The tick-tocks of the clocks interweaved irregularly beside her ears like an intense drum beat, forcing her heart rate to quicken in an instant. With her brain whirring, Tao Yunyun constantly reminded herself, silently, of Liang Jing’s repeated warnings. She must remain composed, which wasn’t a problem at all since she did not even dare to let out a deep breath. She had to be nimble and concise with her words and actions. How would she even dare to dawdle even for a second longer with so many clocks here, urging her? As for her opinions on superstitious beliefs, she did not even believe such things herself, so there was nothing for her to worry about in that regard. Humble and modest while keeping a low profile, and not being overly astute, these two conditions were where the difficulties were. Just as she was thinking that, the door opened suddenly and a young man with an out-of-ordinary presence walked in. “Hello, I’m Wang Zhongding,” he said. The moment the two shook their hands, it was as if countless halos had appeared right in front of Tao Yunyun’s eyes. Since Wang Zhongding rarely showed his face to the public, Tao Yunyun had absolutely no inkling of his appearance. In her initial impression, a number fanatic leader should be wearing a pair of thick glasses and his expression should be stiff and rigid as that of an official. Yet, the Wang Zhongding right in front of her was wearing a coordinated ash grey suit, firm and concise body lines, displaying a distinct style of pure masculinity. If he was to be described in four words, they would be — Resolute! Firm! Noble! Esteemed! What was even more unexpected for Tao Yunyun was the fact that even though Wang Zhongding did not smile, his gaze was very amiable. “Please have a seat!” Wang Zhongding said. The sense of nervousness Tao Yunyun had felt, lessened. After sitting down, her beautiful almond-shaped eyes were fixed on Wang Zhongding, sparkling incessantly. Her gaze was bright, yet not lecherous, and her expression was obedient yet dignified. Her acting was, indeed, not bad. However, Wang Zhongding was only concerned with one thing, “Why aren’t you talking?” “I am waiting for you to speak first,” she replied. “Aren’t you here to discuss films?” “Oh, I remember now.” Tao Yunyun revealed a tender and naive smile, “I had forgotten about it since I was nervous.” Wang Zhongding smiled faintly, as if he was enjoying Yao Yunyun’s act of being simple-minded and pure. “CEO Wang, you have so many clocks and watches here!” she exclaimed.
“This is only a small part of my collection. Most of them are at home.” Tao Yunyun’s eyes widened, “Huh? I thought everything on display was all of it.” “That’s not all of it. There are also some which are merged into the decorations. For example, the backdrop wall behind you.” He waved to the wall. Tao Yunyun had already guessed that the four-column LCD screen on the backdrop wall was an unusually shaped meter dial, but she acted as if she found it unbelievable, “Is that a dial, too? I can’t read it at all!” Wang Zhongding pointed at a simple one, “Then, can you tell that this placement of this bonsai actually shows an equation?” Tao Yunyun repeated her performance, acting surprised as if she had just found out about it, “No way?” Wang Zhongding smiled, again. The more Wang Zhongding smiled, the more brilliant Tao Yunyun’s performance as a modest, low-profile, simple and guileless person was. Wherever Wang Zhongding pointed was a pleasant surprise, whatever he said was classy. Moreover, she had a good grasp of the situation. She remembered Liang Jing’s repeated reminder for her to be “concise and efficient”, knowing when to stop and he bade her farewell straightforwardly before their time was up. Liang Jing returned after a fruitless search. Just as he arrived at the company, he saw Tao Yunyun walking out from the lobby entrance. “How was it?” Liang Jing asked. Tao Yunyun gave him an OK hand sign as she smiled from ear to ear, “It was a delightful chat.” For some reason, Liang Jing felt an ominous premonition all of a sudden. He rushed towards Wang Zhongding’s office with quick steps, only to be blocked at the door by the assistant. “There is no need for you to go in. CEO Wang has asked me to pass this on to you, that he doesn’t like people who are overly astute but that doesn’t mean that he likes a dumb person either.” Liang Jing was speechless.
