Chapter 23: In their own world

The current season was popular for a roundabout island trip, so there were many cars on the road. There was a private car driving on the highway road along the seaside, following a long line of cars in a traffic jam as it advanced extremely slowly on the road. The beach was not too far away alongside the road.
Chen Yifei and Yan Yu had already been stuck in the traffic jam for quite a while. Chen Yifei held onto the driving wheel, bored. He could only see the traffic flow of the cars leaving on his side of the road, while Yan Yu could at least look at the beach on his side.
Yan Yu was paying no mind to the traffic jam at all. More accurately speaking, the fact that he was able to come out on a vacation was exciting enough, let alone coming to the beach, which had been always his favourite spot since his childhood.
Half of Yan Yu’s body was nearly out of the car as he leaned out to have a better look. Although the traffic was barely moving, Chen Yifei pulled him back into the car, worry obvious in his voice, “Sit properly. Don’t extend your head outside.”
Yan Yu withdrew back into his seat and stretched as he leaned back, “You’ve already been driving for three hours now. Do you want to switch?”
“It’s fine. It’s really slow now anyway.”
The road was finally moving more than half an hour later. When they finally arrived at the harbour, the two parked the car and boarded the passenger ship towards the island straight away. There were many passengers on the ship and most of them were couples who were on a vacation.
Yan Yu was wearing a pair of shorts with designs inspired by the tropics. In reality, he had bought two pairs of the exact same shorts but Chen Yifei begged to differ regarding his opinions on their designs.
After twenty minutes, the passenger ship finally stopped near the shore. The island was not big. There was only a hotel and a food street, and the scenery was extremely quiet and charming.
Yan Yu had reserved the suite room with the best view of the sea and it came with a kitchen. It was Chen Yifei’s idea to reserve a room that came with a kitchen. There were not many restaurants on this small island. Besides, most of them had menus mainly revolving around seafood. Given Yan Yu’s allergy to seafood like prawns and crabs, he thought he would be most assured if he was to cook the food himself rather than taking a risk when eating out.
After resting up in the room, Yan Yu received a call and his mood was especially uplifted when the call ended.
Chen Yifei asked, “What was it?”
Yan Yu smiled, “My darling has been sent here. It’s at the harbour now.”
Chen Yifei smiled lightly, “Shall we drive around nearby after dinner?”
Yan Yu blinked, “Let’s go a bit later.”
“It’ll be dark if we go later.”
“There’ll be fewer people when it’s dark. And we can take our time with no problems,” Yan Yu claimed.
“Isn’t it difficult to see clearly at night?” Chen Yifei said, “I thought you wanted to look at the scenery.”
The weather had been pretty good these last two days. Even when the tide was high, everything was peaceful and quiet. The two only came out to the harbour and prepared to drive out when it was almost time for the beach to close off for the night.
Chen Yifei went straight to the pilot room, finally utilising what he had learnt last time. The yacht moved along the nearby island reef in the shallow waters slowly. The view at this time was not exactly clear, but it was especially quiet out at sea. Besides the sounds of waves, no other clamour could be heard.
Yan Yu lay on the deck as he enjoyed the ocean breeze, which made his bare skin slightly moist. He used his own arm as a pillow and turned his head to watch Chen Yifei in the pilot room, feeling extremely pleased.
Yan Yu only left the deck after Chen Yifei drove the yacht around the small island twice.
Yan Yu suggested, “Let’s get to the shore first? I’ve already asked someone from the ship to prepare some food beforehand.”
Chen Yifei arrived at the hold of the ship. It was very spacious and its interiors were decorated very similarly to Yan Yu’s house. Even the sofa was the exact same one as the one they had at home. Yan Yu cut some fruit and served them before he said, “... I’m going to take a shower.”
“Hn.”
After sitting for a while, Chen Yifei looked around and randomly looked through the coffee table drawers, only to find a box of condoms in the drawer.
Chen Yifei understood immediately. No wonder he felt that Yan Yu was looking forward to something, even purposefully driving out to sea at night, when there was no one else around -- As it turned out, Yan Yu wanted to do it with him in the yacht that he loved so much.
Ten minutes later, Yan Yu came out of the bathroom, only to realise that the lights had been turned off. The only light source was coming from the light at the harbour shining through the glass windows.
Chen Yifei was sitting at the corner of the sofa, the light from his phone screen reflected dimly on his face.
Yan Yu asked, “... Why didn’t you switch on the lights?”
Chen Yifei asked, “Hm… Do you need the lights?”
Yan Yu saw the box of condoms on the coffee table and realised that his intentions had been exposed. He was glad that Chen Yifei had turned off the lights or he would have been too embarrassed.
Yan Yu started, slowly, “...I’ve initially wanted to… give you a surprise.”
Chen Yifei could not hold back his laughter anymore. He put down his phone and said, “Come here.”
Yan Yu gulped. He simply loved how this Assistant Chen bossed him around to death. He walked over slowly and sat down beside him. Chen Yifei shook his head and patted his own legs.
In the beginning, Yan Yu had been slightly worried about whether or not Chen Yifei would dislike this, but it seemed like his worries were for naught. Yan Yu strode over to Chen Yifei’s legs and straddled him directly, while the latter embraced him conveniently, wanting to kiss him. Instead, Yan Yu stopped him with his finger on his lips, his finger sliding down all the way to Chen Yifei’s collar.
Yan Yu said in a small voice, “You know, I’ve always wanted to try and tear open your shirt like how they do it in movies.”
Chen Yifei could not help laughing, “To be fair, I don’t think that would be easy…”
Before Chen Yifei could even finish his sentence, Yan Yu had already torn his shirt open with a snap. Needless to say, the buttons were all done for. Yan Yu smirked, “Don’t underestimate my strength… What brand is this shirt? Isn’t the quality pretty bad?”
With his chest on full display, Chen Yifei could only feel resigned, “In any case, it was already torn by you.”

Since it was a location that Yan Yu had always wanted to try, together with the lack of obstruction from a condom, Yan Yu had enjoyed it thoroughly. He felt so good that he thought he might have ascended.

After briefly cleaning up the mess, Chen Yifei drove the yacht back to the shore. Yan Yu lay on the sofa, lazily, on the journey back, with absolutely no intention to move a single muscle. Besides, the limp and numbness after their pleasurable activities still remained and he wanted to enjoy its aftertaste to the fullest.
Chen Yifei stopped the yacht at the harbour and called for someone to look after it before thanking him sincerely. Chen Yifei dragged Yan Yu back to the hotel as the latter hung onto him, grumbling about how the hotel was so far.
Yan Yu had a good night’s sleep that night. It was the first time he had slept all the way until two in the afternoon the next day. Even Chen Yifei was suspicious of whether he had passed out during his sleep.
Yan Yu had never slept for so long before. He had initially thought that the vacation should be spent on playing and travelling around to their hearts’ content, but now, he changed his mind and thought that it would be no problem at all even if he had to sleep with Chen Yifei for three whole days in the hotel.
Chen Yifei dragged Yan Yu off the bed and tossed him into a chair at the dining table. Like a salted fish, Yan Yu leaned on the table bonelessly, insisting on Chen Yifei feeding him mouthful by mouthful.
However, Yan Yu could no longer smile not long after as he started to have a stomach ache, forcing him to run to the toilet. Chen Yifei stood outside at the toilet entrance, listening in to the desperate cries inside as he said, resigned, “Don’t egg me on to not use a condom next time.”
“...Ah? This is nothing… It was only a stomach ache… A small problem…” Yan Yu said, dismissively.
Chen Yifei was firm, “I’ll have the last say in this.”
“How dare you go against what I say?” Yan Yu shouted in the toilet, “Who gave you the courage?!”
Chen Yifei leaned against the doorframe and laughed, but his voice remained strict when he replied, “I’ll get some medicine for you.”
“There’s no need. Eating a meal made by you will fix it.”
Yan Yu was finally out of the toilet. It was a wonder how he had the appetite to eat after going through that ordeal. Yan Yu did not want to go anywhere after dinner. When Chen Yifei asked him to go out and move about, Yan Yu blamed Chen Yifei for doing this and that last night with no restraint, giving Chen Yifei no chance to refute.
Just as one wanted to drag the other out while the other one was trying his hardest to act coquettishly and try to make the former stay, the doorbell rang.
Chen Yifei answered the door, only to see a staff member of the hotel standing outside their room, smiling politely at him, “Is this Mr. Chen and Mr. Yan? Congratulations on being chosen as the lucky passengers of our hotel’s eighth anniversary.”
Surprised, Chen Yifei asked, “Really? Thank you.”
Upon hearing that, Yan Yu walked over and said excitedly, “Are there any prizes?”
The other party took out a pamphlet detailing their eighth-anniversary celebration’s activities and there were a few points stated on it, “The prize is as follows; if you and Mr Yan are relatives, you are eligible to rent the yacht once for free; If both of you are friends or colleagues, our hotel will give you up to 5000 dollars reimbursement for your future expenditures in the hotel restaurants and shopping centre.”
Chen Yifei saw the last point for couples, but the staff did not introduce any further and instead looked at them expectantly.
Yan Yu was afraid that it would make Chen Yifei awkward so he took the initiative, “Then, we’ll take number two…”
Chen Yifei interrupted, “Can we choose the couple option? We are a couple.”
The staff member was surprised but gathered himself quickly before he replied with a smile, “Of course. We will provide a hot air balloon sightseeing tour, and a couple’s meal will be provided during the tour itself. We will also be sending in top-quality red wine after eight at night for your enjoyment. Thank you very much for your patronage. I hope you will have a splendid vacation.”
After the hotel staff left, Chen Yifei closed the door while Yan Yu suddenly threw himself towards him and gave him a hug. Chen Yifei staggered backwards and banged into the door, “What are you doing?”
Yan Yu murmured, “Nothing… I thought you didn’t want to admit it.”
Chen Yifei asked, “Why do I not want to admit it?”
Yan Yu swallowed, “The other party isn’t an acquaintance… So I thought you’d find it awkward.”
Yan Yu probably had no idea how much of those awkward situations and judging gazes Chen Yifei had endured up until now. Chen Yifei merely smiled, “There is no need to worry too much about it.”
Yan Yu responded by giving Chen Yifei a kiss, “That’s why I’m so happy.”
Chen Yifei smiled, “Are you willing to go out now?”
Yan Yu nodded, “Of course. I can’t miss out on the hot air balloon tour now, can I? I have never gotten on one before.”
“There’s actually something you have not tried before?” Chen Yifei asked, half-serious and half teasing.
“Would a normal person go and get on a hot air balloon alone?” Yan Yu said, “You’re saying it as if you have done it before.”
Instead of answering, Chen Yifei remained silent and rubbed his nose as he walked into the room, an ambiguous smile on his face.
Yan Yu paused, “You actually did? When?”
“I did it once to woo someone, a very long time ago.”
Yan Yu was silent.
Chen Yifei sighed, “Anyone would have such a pompous period in their life.”
Yan Yu whined, “You have not even tried it with me before!”
“...Why are you being so childish?”
Look at how old Yan Yu was right now. Besides, as the chairman of an established company, he should have seen and experienced various things in life, and yet, he turned into a child with no IQ whenever it had something to do with Chen Yifei.
“How can that be the same?” Yan Yu said, displeased, “We’ll go, right now! And I want to sit on the biggest one!”
“It’s only three in the afternoon now, it’s too sunny outside. It’ll be too hot to sit on the hot air balloon.”
In the evening, as if he was consoling a child, Chen Yifei brought Yan Yu out and went to sit on the hot air balloon just as he had wanted. Yan Yu leaned on the edge of the basket and looked at the gulf and small islands.
It was turning dark in the evening, the burning device on top of their head had heated up Yan Yu’s face as it flushed red. Yan Yu still felt a bit unresigned regarding the fact that Chen Yifei did not confess to him in such a fancy way.
Chen Yifei suddenly leaned towards him from behind, murmured quietly beside his ears, causing Yan Yu to pause and the anger in his heart to dissipate into nothingness.
Yan Yu hmphed, “You got him to get together with you in the end, didn’t you? The one you went to sit on the hot air balloon with.”
“That’s not the case.”
Yan Yu was shocked, “No way! That didn’t even work? I thought no one would be able to resist.”
Chen Yifei shrugged, “There’ll always be people who don’t like me.”
Yan Yu’s lips twitched, no matter who rejected or who ditched Chen Yifei, it was all their loss. But it was thanks to all these people who had rubbish judgement that Chen Yifei ended up behind his.
Yan Yu sighed, “Besides the fact that you’re a bit of a workaholic… You’re perfect in my eyes. But you’ve been much better recently.”
Chen Yifei shook his head, “No one is perf-”
Yan Yu interjected, “I do not accept any refute from anyone, including you.”
Chen Yifei laughed, “Yes, yes. I’m perfect.”
Chen Yifei had smiled and laughed countless times today. He was customarily modest, but Yan Yu did not give him that chance. Then, it wouldn’t be such a bad idea for him to be proud once in a while, right?
